This known as a “confession ebook” or "confession book" from Serbian culture. It is a booklet that contains confessions of sins from all walks of life and levels of society, written in letters sent to the priest, made public by publishing it with a list of names signed on it. This list is also known as “Lista svedoka” – the witness list – which includes the name, profession and address of each person with their confession. These books have been used as sources for many scholarly studies. This particular book has been digitized and translated into English as well as Modern Serbian by Danko Radivojević from Belgrade. The text is available online and the translation was posted on April 10, 2011 and is also published as a pdf file. This confession book is from a man called Milivoje Mijatović from Vranje who was probably ordained as a priest for the Serbian Orthodox Church. His confession includes detailed information about his personal life which he lists as being 48 years old at the time of confession, married to Jelena, a housewife and a mother of two living children who were still in high school. He also mentions that he had studied theology in Prizren and had been a teacher of mathematics. At the time of the confession, Milivoje Mijatović had noted that he was returning to his family after serving as a priest for ten years and three months (he would later serve another three and a half years and be retired).The List of Witnesses:This is an “Izjava” or "Izjave" - Confession, Obrazac P-117 which was taken on May 18, 1953 by Milivoje Mijatović (died in 1972) from Vranje. This confession book was taken on June 25, 1954 by Milivoje Mijatović from Vranje, who at that time was a priest for the Serbian Orthodox Church. He served as a priest for ten years and three months, served another 3 ½ years and retired in 1963. He is now 68 years old. The witness list includes people from Vranje, Pirot and Vlasotince.This confession book was written by Milivoje Mijatović (died in 1972), which includes his confessions up until January 15, 1956 when he was serving as the priest at the Sts Constantine and Helena Church in Kraljevo. At that time, he served as a teacher at the St. St. Cyril and Methodius School in Kraljevo. The confession book includes information about his family life including being married, have 3 children who are all grown, have moved to Belgrade in 1958, and lived for 1 ½ years with his wife’s sister in Zagreb where he taught math at two different schools. He has also listed the church where he worked during the time of confession as being at “Panonijski put 17”, which is now known as “Panonijski put 14” along with many details about the church including that it is a parish church. cfa1e77820
