"Tarzan and the shame of Jane" is a movie where Tarzan and Jane go on a journey to find themselves and to know themselves. It is the story of love, devotion, and redemption. The film was released in 2016, directed by David Yates who also directed "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as well as "Goblet of Fire". Since I'm not giving you any spoilers it's hard to say much about this film that hasn't been seen before online. So far it has gotten mixed reviews but has been getting more positive reviews as time goes on; mainly because people are enjoying it more after seeing how their children or grandchildren come out talking to them about what they learned from watching this movie. Tarzan and the shame of Jane also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, and Djimon Hounsou. It is based on the children's book 'Tarzan and the shame of Jane' and tells a story of how Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård) struggles to live up to his father's legacy as Lord Greystoke. As Tarzan starts scraping together living by his wits, Jane Porter (Margot Robbie), his childhood love, returns from doing missionary work in Africa. In a series of flashbacks we learn about Tarzan's early life as an orphan raised by apes in Africa alongside Harry Clayton Jr. (Samuel L. Jackson), an American missionary. To be honest, I wasn't too excited about watching "Tarzan and the shame of Jane" because it has been said that since Disney's take on Tarzan, there haven't been too many people interested in continuing to make Tarzan movies. And I can see why people would think this way because Disney's take on the story was more based upon the animated movie "Tarzan" which was released in 1999 starring Tony Goldwyn as Tarzan and Minnie Driver as Jane Porter. However, I still wanted to give this movie a chance because even though it doesn't have much online about it, the one thing that did catch my interest was that it had Samuel L. Jackson in it. After seeing that "Sam" was playing the role of a missionary alongside with Alexander Skarsgård, I knew I had to give this movie a chance to see if it would live up to the hype that I have heard about Samuel being in this movie. But let me start by saying finally the Tarzan story is being portrayed correctly with Alexander Skarsgård playing Tarzan and not Tony Goldwyn who played him in movies before. But what about Margot Robbie playing Jane Porter? Is she even good enough for this role? Sadly, my answer is yes. The role of Jane is very important because it is the only light that Tarzan has in his life, he loves her but she doesn't know who he is and she doesn't care. And like any good Tarzan fan knows, the reason why this usually happens with Tarzan couples is because their stories are very close to each other; therefore they can never see each other as anything more than their childhood love. I personally believe that Margot Robbie did a great job with this role. She loves how she looked like before she was married Margot Robbie playing Jane Porter at the beginning of the movie during the flashback scene showing Jane's life before Tarzan becomes Lord Greystoke.
