Belarc Advisor is a free program that builds a detailed profile ofall your installed software and hardware, Microsoft hotfixes, andantivirus status. It also provides you with detailed Center for InternetSecurity (CIS) benchmarks. The results are then displayed in a nicely formattedHTML report. From your Web browser, you can easily sift through the reportinformation and access Web sites for additional information. However, all ofyour computer profile information is stored on your system and is not sent toany Web server.




How To Save Belarc Report



Oncethe new security definitions are installed, the BelarcAdvisor will restart and provide you with a current and accurate report. Thereport is extremely detailed and very long. Scrolling through in the browser iseasy though, and the menu on the left provides you with links to key sections ofthe report. (Figure D)


Use your Print Screen key to capture the list and paste the screenshot into another program like Paint. You will probably need to scroll down and take multiple screenshots. If this is the case, you might find it easier to paste each image into a word processor and save it as a single file.


Go to View > HTML Report - All Items to see an HTML export of the list. You can keep that file in the default location as per the address bar, or press Ctrl + S to save it somewhere else.


CCleaner is a Windows program designed to free up space on your PC, though CCleaner has a questionable reputation nowadays. Nevertheless, it's handy for a single use to generate a list of installed programs on your PC; you can then save that software list to a text file.
